Project J.U.L.I.A. (Join-Us-Literacy-In-Action) aims to start a learning and reading center in Igbaras, Iloilo where books are scarce & a library is non-existent. This initiative aims to transform lives, revitalize communities, improve literacy, and promote youth engagement, one book at a time.
We strongly believe that when you read a worthy book, it positively changes one’s outlook in life. The concept was inspired over the summer when we had the chance to work with a local project that provided school supplies to the indigent families in the mountainous areas of our town. We were prompted to reach out to friends and relatives abroad to seek their support.
Our vast collection of books covers all genres and all ages. We also have a hundred board games and stuff toys that have been shipped since last December 2019 from the US and we are very excited to share this blessing to our fellow youth and adults in Igbaras, Iloilo. The books will continue to come on a monthly basis.
This movement will be spearheaded by youth volunteers in Igbaras with the assistance of the local government. It is our ardent desire and hopes that through books, the people in Igbaras will be transformed and allow their hearts and minds to receive endless possibilities never before considered.
