Quick Steps on How to Create a Blog:

1. Decide what niche/industry you’ll focus on writing about (it’s advisable to choose those that you’re genuinely interested or passionate about).

Here are a few samples of topic areas that have huge readership potentials, where you can write useful tutorials, personal experiences, or product/service reviews:

Business & Finance
Technology
Family & Relationships
Travel & Lifestyle
Professional Advice (Health, Law, Education, etc…)
2. Create a content plan. Start by listing the topic ideas that you want to cover on your blog. Choose to write the topics that people actually search for (you can use free tools like Google Keyword Planner to determine which topics have strong demand and get searched frequently on the web).

3. Think of a brand name for your blog – and see if the domain name is still available. You can check availability and purchase the domain name directly from GoDaddy.

4. Find a Webhost. I personally recommend SiteGround (this is where most of my websites are hosted – because of the impressive uptime and service quality), but if you’re looking for a cheaper option as you’re still getting started, BlueHost would be a great option as well.

Once you have both the domain and webhost, you can start pointing your domain to your chosen webhost. You can check out our complete guide on how to start a blog for more detailed instructions.

5. Choose a blogging platform. There are several options to choose from, but WordPress is the most popular choice for beginners (because it’s so easy-to-use).

And it will only take a few clicks to install WordPress from most web hosting C-Panel dashboards (including both SiteGround & BlueHost).

6. Design your blog. Once you’ve successfully installed WordPress, you can start tweaking your brand new website.

There are literally hundreds of free customizable WordPress themes that you can use. From your WordPress admin dashboard, go to Appearance > Themes > Add New:

Although, if you prefer to use premium WordPress themes, you can check out StudioPress (their themes’ prices range from $35 – $150).

7. Start Writing. The job is not done just yet, and the next steps would actually be the hardest ones

It’s crucial to understand from the get-go that making money through blogging takes a lot of effort – and it’s not as easy as what most would tell you.
