Time out for our online learners! Time to clear that messy thoughts of yours after an exhausting class session. A full loaded day would be really overwhelming. Online sessions after online sessions could really make you feel like losing your sanity. Imagine, from Physics class to Chemistry class, to Engineering Math ( Yes. Let's expose these dreadful subjects), to a deeper dive on Philippine History. Great! Now you just forgot your name and existence. You'll start question your self things like : " Where am I?" "Who am I?" "Why am I still existing?" But you need to force yourself to continue living cause you still have an upcoming exam tomorrow and you wouldn't want a failing grade. Hey, you've already paid for all these stuffs. No time to waste money. You're internet promo isn't expired yet. You will start overthinking everything: how your parents work hard for your study's expenses and how you've come this far. You will start wondering what will happen to your future if you won't push through? How about your plates which you've worked hard with blood and sweats? What if the termites would only eat them after you've gone? or someone spilled a coffee on them because no one's taking care of them anymore? Well ofcourse, those were all just your personal exaggerated dramas in life that you need to cut now. And yes, I know how hard it is to escape from overthinking while also gathering all your messy thoughts on velocities, atoms, motion, 1896 revolution, Magellan's voyage, polynomials, etc. I'm also experiencing all of those too, but I know the importance of mental health to our holistic development. If you can't make your brain function well, your whole body would be affected. I am absolutely avoiding this that's why I'm doing some simple practices to help myself. I am very enthusiastic to share it you all hoping it could it could also help you. Now, what are these? 1. Hydrate: Fill your head with water than with none. So, this is one of my habit that really helps me whenever I feel like I've already sent my brain to mars. Whenever I'm lost of ideas or can't absorb what I'm reading , I make sure to take a break and drink a cup of water. It feels refreshing, like the rusts renting on my brain without pay were being washed out. Another thing is an article I've read about healthy lifestyle says water affects brain because our brain is about 75% water. When your brain is functioning on a full reserve of water, you will be able to think faster, be more focused, and experience greater clarity and creativity. Water is also essential for delivering nutrients to the brain and for removing toxins. When the brain is fully hydrated, the exchange of nutrients and toxins will be more efficient—thus ensuring better concentration and mental alertness (UCDavis.edu, 2015). So yes, water isn't just a beverage, for it's indeed a food for the brain! 2. Talk to your pillow and don't forget to count the sheeps! (Yeah, I mean sleep.) When we have a load of assignments lined up, we can't avoid setting up an all nighter because of the pressure that we should finish those activities as soon as possible. This is one of the most unhealthy habits that majority of students tend to practice. If you're one of it, you should end that now. Sleep deprivation is one of the easiest gateway to stress and mental illness. It impairs the memory that has a long term effect on us. Many studies have proven it. Search it on google and see how good you are at killing yourself. Forget deadlines, kick off that paperworks and prioritize sleep! Prioritize your mental health cause without it, you're brain and body won't function properly. So what if you've done your homework all night but you're being zombie in all of your subjects the next day? You can't recite, you can't absorb the discussion, you've lost your soul. ( Oh wait, you've just left it in your bed. Still asleep!) 3. Be possessed with music like mad! I can't think straight. I have an information overload. I feel like my head is floating. Now, bring that music in! Music is one of our souls' bestfriend. When you feel like being an empty container, with all your messy thoughts pulling you everywhere, it helps to listen even to a random music right? Cause a music knows how to pull a magic string of calmness in us. If you're worried, anxious, overwhelmed...try listening to a peaceful music. There are even some nature sounds on youtube: sound of flowing water, birds chirping, etc. You can try that to make you relax. You can also choose to listen to a worship song that will later on make you like you're possess with the Holy Spirit! " Hey, why do I feel like it's time for me to be a saint?" If you feel very unmotivated cause you think that your task or activities are endless (in other words, you're so done with your online class!) try listening to some upbeats. It can definitely lift your mood. Try listening to rock music, be a hipster in front of the mirror. Bang your head in the air like you don't care! Shout out your frustrations. Dance with that KPOP bop songs even if you don't fully understand the lyrics (Jjirit jirit jirit~heart!heart!). Go back to 1999 and play that mambo no. 5! 4. Steal a "me time" or meditate. Your busy day and your worries are what keeps your head fuzzy. You are thinking of many things and letting the overloading information entertains you. How can you take a break from all of these? Go in a silent relaxing place, in your bed, in the garden, or anywhere you prefer to. Just listen to the silence. Avoid thinking of anything else. Listen to the nature. Do a mantra. A mantra is chanting some words repeatedly to yourself. You can choose an affirmation words like " I'm doing a good job" cause you are. You can also spend your "me time" ( special time for yourself ) by doing other meditating activities like yoga. You can watch some on youtube and just follow it. Or simply try just try stretching. Listen to that "crack" sound your bones make. Watch a mood lifting videos, a funny one, an inspiring one. Let yourself laugh for a while, you deserve it. 5. Shower: Talk to the water Yes. I might be a mermaid in my previous life that's why I'm so much into water. Water for me is healing. That's also the reason I always spend very long time the bathroom. I'm watching the water in the faucet run. I'm watching the trickles of water flow in the tiles and in the shower curtain. I listen to it flowing. I feel it with my hands. Water is just therapeutic. Spending a good time in the shower is overall refreshing to both body and brain. Just don't overdo it or else you really plan to live in your bathroom forever. And yep. I'll end it here. Hope I've helped with these tips. Have a nice day! Staysafe<3 Godbless! #Goodnews #onlineclass
