1. Plants and Gardens

You might already know how common planting nowadays is. Because of the pandemic, many people were particularly drawn to planting or gardening and this generation of course even developed a new term to call them which are " plantitos or plantitas."

With what we are facing today, I quite agree that this could be the best hobby to spent on. First reason, was ofcourse it's very beneficial to the nature. The Green-er the environment, the lesser the air pollution right? Plants converts carbon dioxide to oxygen, giving us fresher air. Second, this particular hobby develops our love for the nature and deeply realize its importance. It's befriending the plants to befriend mother nature! This hobby can also be done with family members especially with kids, and thru that we can instill in them how important to care for our environment. Third, this hobby could definitely be therapeutic! We are facing a lot of tough times for sure and been worrying a lot. But thru planting or gardening, we can find relaxation. Who wouldn't be, right? I mean it's about nature, and green! Just thinking of it sounds already relaxing. Fourth, this can also be a great business for those who have entrepreneur mindset! Selling plants online is prevalent nowadays.

But if you don't have the means to plant yet, there's still a way to connect with nature and plants! You can chose to study about plants, read a book or search on the net. Try searching the names of plants you're familiar with but don't actually know what it's called. Look up for their benefits, especially medical benefits from herbs or such. Research the proper planting. Watch gardening videos and look for creative ideas of execution like inspiring sample of vertical gardens on YouTube that you can do at home! Unleash your inner plantita/ plantito spirit thru those simple things!

2. New Language

If you love to watch dramas from different countries ( like Korean drama, Japanese Drama, Lakorn, Chinese Drama etc.), this would be more interesting for you!

One best thing to do instead of procrastination is to start studying a language that has a special place in your heart! For example, if you're a fan of Korean dramas or K-Pop, why not study the korean language? Or if you're of Japanese animes or mangas, study the language! Would it be fun if sooner you'll find yourself not needing any english subtitles when watching? That would be awesome right? You can start by learning simple phrases, or studying their writing system first!

Learning a new language also enhances your brain, and who knows when and where you can use it! It can be an advantage when applying on a job!

3. Arts and Crafts

Develop the creator in you and unleash your inner creativity with learning different arts and crafts!

You don't have to be an inborn artist, I mean, a talented one to try these things. There's a saying that most talents aren't born but made! There are many things to try when we say arts and crafts. There are drawing which mostly ranges from simple sketching, to painting. There are traditional drawing to digital drawing. In drawing, you can also choose your own style. You may want to try a comic or caricature style, an anime, a cartoon or a realism styles. For crafts, there are quillings that are fun to learn and do! You can also try weaving or knitting, or even a woodwork crafts.

Creativity is a great skill to develop and an all-time skill for sure!

4. New Skills or Talent

Aside from just developing an existing one, why not literally study a new skill? Or a new talent?

Think of things that you dream of being able to do. A random example is bending or might be doing splits! If you're used not to be very flexible, it can be your time now to improve your flexibility and learn new skills like bending or splitting! I mean, not all people can bend or split right? Or you might also want to learn a juggling skill! Or magic and card tricks! Who knows, we might soon see you in a Talent competition show on the television! The girl who spits fire? The man who can swallow a sword? The guy who can be electrified? ( LOL )

5. Musical Instruments

Musically inclined or not, you can also spend time on learning a musical instrument!

Music is powerful. It is also therapeutic! If you aren't gifted with a beautiful voice, you can still embody music thru learning how to play a musical instrument. A guitar, a piano, a flute or even the drums! If you don't have the means yet, watching tutorials still will not harm you. Atleast you gain an advance insights! You can also resort to traditional musical instruments cause some of them could actually be improvised!

It just mostly takes passion and creativity to invest on music!

6. Culture

One of the most interesting thing to learn if you'll ask me, is culture. The earth is too big the makes culture one of the most diverse thing in the world. Doesn't it awe you how culture can simply be described as something that divides people yet on the same time either, connects them?

If you're planning to travel out of town in the near future, everyone's most possible could be study the place's culture! or if you've already travelled enough on some places, for sure you know how it important it is to know one's culture. It would indeed help you a lot, as like knowing the taboos in that place, familiarizing with their culture's do's and don'ts or comparing their culture to yours! It would not just save you from possible trouble or travelling hassles but will also help you understand other people's way of living and respect them, ofcourse.

7. Personality

All of us undergoes a life phase where we question many things, like who we are, our real purpose in life, why are acting the way we are...etc. Having vague answers to these things could really make us feel empty. Anyway, this situation mostly occur to when we have much time to think and overthink. So instead of starting an inner existential crisis, why not resort into knowing ourself in some reasonable ways? If you haven't heard of the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), I highly suggest you try it! Especially if you love taking personality tests.

It aims to indicate differing psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions through four categories: introversion or extraversion, sensing or intuition, thinking or feeling, judging or perceiving.

This new year, for sure you have many things you want to plan, or things about yourself you want to change or improve. Knowing yourself is one of the best way to execute these properly! Personality tests can help you distinguish your weaknesses and strengths and with that, you will able to know where to focus your energy!

Hope this article came out meaningful for you. I'll leave you now with the quote " Don't stop learning cause life never stop teaching."

Have a wonderful day! Staysafe and Godbless!
