You're Leah!

Dear Leah,
While growing up, I’d hear young women (including myself) gushing over the love story of Jacob and Rachel-how the former waited for 14 years just he could have her. I don’t have problem with that; in fact, I think, Jacob is a good model when it comes to waiting. But, my eyes was always on Rachel just like how Jacob fixed his eyes on her. I didn’t see you, Leah. I didn’t see how you persevere. ‘Coz to me then, you are just a second lead to the Jacob-Rachel love story.
You’ve loved him since the beginning, but pain and anguish, indifference and abandonment were reverted to you. I didn’t know exactly how it feels to be not loved by a husband, but I see the sorrow and pain through your sons’ name. In spite of that, you persevere.
You continued to toil, to plant and to water even if your Jacob do not sees you.
Leah, how God dealt with you is a revelation that the God that we both have is a God who sees. He noticed your sorrow; he opened your womb because he saw that you are not being loved by Jacob - He comforted you. The Lord sees you- your pain and tears, Leah.
Who would’ve thought that at the end of the day, it was you who will be revered as “mother of Israel?” It is through your son, Judah, that the Messiah was born. In the end, it was you who was laid to rest next to Jacob and not his favorite, Rachel. In the end, Jacob honor you as his first and last wife.
I am grateful for your life, woman. Through you are revelation of God’s character-He is a God who gives comfort, He is a God who is just and do not play favorites, and He is a God who sees the true worth of a person even if the people around her do not see it.

Leah, God had taken note of your sorrow Thank you for enduring.
