WINTER: A Season of Growth

Each season has its own purpose and time. There's the season of joy and even the season of grief. We all have seasons.

With today's crisis, where COVID-19 cases keeps on rising, where many are experiencing injustices, and new issues coming from different areas of life, we can feel like the world is falling apart. It is easy to give up and have negative feelings. I even heard someone wishing that 2020 should end now.

With these scenarios, I reflected and remembered the winter season.

Though here in the Philippines we don't actually experience it, we can still connect our lives with the winter season.

According to one's research, winter is a difficult time for the nature. Trees lose their leaves and stop producing fruits, which exposes its bareness to the harsh cold.

Like us, we are too stripped of this current situation. It is easy to have negative thoughts. It is easy to give up. To just, let everything pass, thinking that this year had never came.

But remember, a tree still thrives in winter. It might not be physically visible, but its internal aspects is working, preparing itself for the next season to come — the spring. Winter is the time of growth and a time of repair.

In this "winter" season of our lives, let's be reminded that this season is our time of repair and growth. Yes, we may cry, we may have these negative feelings. But never let yourself be consumed by these things. (Looking for a professional when we can't hold it anymore is a must!)

Winter is hard, but this is our season, take heart my friend!
