     For the Israelites, leaving slavery in Egypt was wonderful. Their destination was Palestine, which at that time was a beautiful , fertile country "flowing with milk and honey." The actual trip was terrible! You may think that sitting long hours in the back seat of a car is tiresome. Compare that to walking day after day in the "wilderness," which was actually desert. Keeping these travel conditions in mind may help us empathize with the Israelites, while not excusing their behavior. Let's think together about some of the events in the Israelites' travel experience.
