What's Carbon Footprint and how to lessen it?

Let's discuss first what is Carbon Footprint.

Carbon Footprint is the amount of Carbon dioxide or other carbon compounds of each person's consumption. We all know that most of the Carbon dioxide is from fossil fuels which are used for electricity, gasoline, and manufacturing.

What is the effect of carbon dioxide on us?
Carbon dioxide is a reason for global warming, making Earth hotter than what it really should be. Have you noticed that it was way colder years before and that the seasons have changed?

I know that you may be thinking about how could you lessen your carbon footprint, that it's difficult to change how we are already living. We live in a time of technology, our life revolves around technology.

What are the simple ways to lessen our carbon footprint?
1. Use Metal straws
Metal straws can be purchased online or from local shops. You can even choose from a variety of colors. If you do not want metal straws, there are bamboo straws and glass straws. Let's ditch the plastic straws and never ask for them again.

2. Use your won tumbler when you order drinks
This is already marketed in Starbucks, they will even give you a discount if you use your tumbler when you purchase drinks for them. When you go out, bring your tumbler with your favorite drink.

3. Buy pre-loved clothes
We know that a lot of people are already selling pre-loved clothes and I am a fan of it. I just repurpose or restyle the clothes and adjust so that they would fit me. There are even shops that sell pre-loved clothes for less the price. You could even buy branded clothes for less than 200 pesos.

4. Do not buy fast-fashion clothes
What are the fast-fashion clothes? These are clothes that are just trendy for a few months and then will go out of fashion. As for what was said a while ago, buy pre-loved clothes. White shirts will never go out of fashion, trust me you could do a lot of things with just a white shirt.

5. Bring your reusable bag
I don't need to explain this. Plastic bags are a No, reusable bags are a definite yes.

6. Conserve water
This has been explained for years, to conserve water. Use buckets or basins when you're washing the dishes. Do you know that the water coming from the air conditioner can be used for watering your plants and even in the laundry? Collect the drips of water from your air conditioner and use it to water your plants or use it to soak your clothes in. You can also use it to wash your dishes, but I know you wouldn't do it.

7. Save electricity
These ways, you could lessen your carbon footprint and even save money.
- turn off the lights you do not use
- unplug those appliances you're not using (fans, tv, extensions, chargers), trust me even if they're off they still consume electricity
- buy appliances that are inverter or those who use less electricity
- change your light bulbs to LEDs, I know they're expensive but they're worth it.

8. Travel in public transport
Yes, public transport. You know the gasoline you use for your cars, they're from fossil fuels. For a person who drives alone and uses a car, compare it to 10 people in a public vehicle. If you do not want to travel using public transport, offer a carpool to your buddies. You'll earn and lessen you and your friend's carbon footprint.

10. Compost
Not compose, like write your songs. Compost as in, make your fertilizer. That excess food, eggshells, or fruit peels can be used to fertilize your plants. Make your compost bin and know more about it. Do not just throw them in the garbage bin and never wonder what would happen next.

How do I know about this? Not because I know about a lot of stuff about it or am a know it all person. I just did some research and maybe I could be one of the billion people who want our planet to heal.

Do your research if you do not believe me. Or if you believe me, do more than what I said.
