What Drives You? #MYMOTIVATION There are two different types of motivation. Namely extrinsic and intrinsic motivations. Extrinsic motivation is that you get drive by external rewards. For example, you get motivated to do something knowing that you’ll get praise, money, fame or other rewards. The source of motivation is from the outside. On the other hand, intrinsic motivation comes from within you. You like to do something because it makes you feel happy and have a sense of purpose. When you have an intrinsic motivation, you do it because it is enjoyable and not because you have a deadline or reward. However, when l look back from my previous experiences, I can see that most of my motivation comes from external rewards. I do something because I get pleasant things out of it. My extrinsic motivations are money, praise and recognition. Another one is meeting a deadline. I’m a procrastinator and all ideas start pouring out when the time is almost up. I’m sure you understand. I would like to find something that makes me want to do it because I genuinely find it interesting or enjoyable. I would like to have a purpose. Maybe seeing something bigger than myself can be a good form of motivation. You know like making history, helping others, enacting change, be an impact, and be enlightened. I think those will make my life worthwhile. Tell me your thoughts. Recently, I've been feeling really unmotivated to do anything. What motivates you? I would like to learn from you and get some tips.
