We're Just Friends...

"We're just friends." You said.
You said that after you made me feel so special,
Thinking our feelings are mutual.

In this society we're living in,
Making someone feel good momentarily is trending.
You're impressively attractive when your beauty and shape are well carved in.

It's in demand that somehow you feel bad and that sympathy is provided in posting,
Just to remind them that you're acting tough while in midst of self-hurting.

In this society we're living in,
It's normal to leave and be left,
instead of it being reestablished...
We were opted to look for another and suddenly vanish.

The definition of living life and having love
Are now defined depending on the pages you follow and the posts and quotes you swallow.

We are so caught up with what's happening in the social media,
That our interpersonal connection is in deep pandemia.

We're flaunting of what good we have left for the sake of the hearts and likes we will receive,
So that somehow, we have the chance to escape reality and also be deceived.

In this society we're living in,
you're loved when the social media is activated
but forgotten when it's deactived
You have to post a story for them to be reminded
that there are other platforms that you can be contacted
A reminder to have just to be sure that you're not taken for granted.

"We're just friends..." You said,
One of the many consequences of how we designed our society--
The society we're living and hating, sadly.
