I've been seeing a growing number of online sellers in various platforms since the lockdown begun here in Manila. Most of them do it to have additional income, some use it to promote their existing businesses, but a significant number sell online because it's their way of earning money after losing their main source of income. These people lost their jobs due to cost-cutting done by their respective companies, something that is unavoidable and yet foreseeable. With all due respect these people swallow their pride and make use of their connections to provide for their families. Most of the online sellers I see are women and, if they have a partner, they use them to deliver their goods while some use courier services to transport their products. Generally, a lot of ideas sprout during this period. Some who were not used to baking now sell their home-made cupcakes and pastries. There are those who assemble phone accessories for hobby who now sell it to others. Great appreciation is also expressed to those who do "pasabuy" where they ask friends or whoever wants to buy something from the grocery or supermarket to purchase it also on their behalf and just pay an additional fee for delivering the goods. But the greatest boost is the number of content creators for social media: the game streamers, the vloggers, the tutorials, the educational video creators, so on and so forth. There, indeed, are a lot of ways to earn money when you begin to find your passion and put that passion into action. As we know, a fire always starts with a spark, and a line starts with a dot. You can earn money as long as you have these: perserverance, patience, idea and interaction skills. It will take time and like some success stories you've seen, your time will also come. Just keep moving forward.
