September 23, 2020 (Wednesday, MGCQ) Dear Diary, Today is the 13th day of homeschooling for my seven-year-old son. He woke up at 11 am, made the bed, and helped himself to brunch. It is his first time serving himself with his own food right from the rice cooker and the pan and eating his meal by himself. I was surprised but I could never be more proud that he took the initiative to do it on his own, as my husband and I were both too exhausted to get up. This was one of the long-term goals - to teach him to be independent in eating whenever he is hungry and not to wait for us to serve him as we can sometimes be both sick or too exhausted to move. Yesterday, we were supposed to study but I just had too much to do. Various tasks piled up this week. Even so, he was consistent with his routine. Yesterday, he made the bed, cooked rice, had his breakfast, and washed our dishes. We started our homeschooling session today at 2 pm and picked up where we left off two days ago. I let him start his computer and he sang the national anthem. He still needs more practice with it. Today’s lessons also included spelling drills for both English and Filipino from Days 2-6. He had to review thrice to get everything right. After 1.75 hours, he asked to do something else. I decided to end our homeschooling session for today and let him play with his toys. As usual, I still have a lot of other things to do so I figured that I should do them instead and just let him enjoy the rest of the day. We were able to review five homeschool days’ worth of lessons today. Tomorrow, we will resume from the seventh homeschool day’s Mathematics subject before we proceed to the eighth homeschool day’s lessons. That’s it for our 13th day!
