There is a saying that winners never quit and quitters never win. The world taught us to never give up or never give in and this is because of our competitive culture. And because of this, the word surrender is almost always used in a negative context. It is often associated with unpleasant images such as admitting defeat in a battle, forfeiting a game or yielding to a stronger opponent and that is why we don’t hear much about surrendering. But there are a lot of good things in surrendering. Surrendering is admitting and accepting your limitation. It is admitting and accepting that no matter how we force things or control things to happen the result will not always the way we want it to be. We are not in control of everything. It is when we try to manipulate things and control everything that we replace God in our life. Surrendering is demonstrated in obedience. We know that we are obedient when we are surrendered. We can truly obey when we are surrendered. When we surrender, we rely on God to work things out. So do not afraid to surrender for when you surrender, you let go and you let God. And that is a big step of faith for you.
