"Let your speech always be with grace, as though season with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person"

Colossians 4

"I used to be a very reactive person. But by God's grace I have managed to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to get angry lately.(James 1:19)

When Im hurt or offended I tend to relieve myself by saying hurtful words. Hurt ako eh. Not thinking of the other person. What that person NEEDS at that moment. I would just be thinking of myself. Because I AM hurt. Puro me.

But the Lord has been teaching me in this are and taming my tongue. Im learning to listen not to the words but the heart of the person where the words are coming from. This verse in Colossians is a reminder to speak words that GIVE GRACE -give what the person doesnt deserve at that moment. (Example nagtatantrums ang anak mo. Sa tingin mo deserve nya na magalit ka at macorrect siya. But really perhaps what the child needs is your loving attention and kind consoling words.) Words daw seasoned with salt. Timplado na. Salt is to add flavor and to preserve. Para maiba timpla ng usap kung mainit na... also salt siguro as preservative- words that preserve the relationship, not destroy or tear it apart!

And lastly James 3:8‭-‬10 came to mine
"But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way."

We can make a conscious choice to choose our words before we speak. Or kagatin na lang muna ang mga dila.😄 By Gods Grace and by letting Him take over. Because when you think about it, its such a rebuke to read that from the same mouth with which we bless others also come curses. 🙁 And when everythings said and done and we won the argument or tapos na tayo magvent... was the relationship saved? Or we were just concerned about being right? May this no longer be.❤

Panginoon tulungan mo kami. Help us resist the urge to say words that break the spirit. May we only say words that build up others. We know that we can only do this through Jesus who gives us strength. AMEN!!! "
