Serenity admist pandemic

When enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila started, a great number of people temporarily lost their job, which led to hunger, and worse, some lost their shelter.
We immediately saw its effect to the people who were “locked down” at home, and left with no choice but to call for help in order to survive. And because of this, my best friends and I decided to do a small donation drive named “Project Kalinaw”. Kalinaw means peace or serenity, which we all need during these trying times.
However, there were three beneficiaries of our choice. First, the families of street food vendors who lost their source of income during ECQ. Second, the organization who brought 11 street children into their mission center to provide a temporary shelter, and lastly, Lingap Maralita who funded a feeding program in urban poor communities in the Metro.
Honestly, conducting a donation drive isn’t easy at all because you’ll never know if it’ll be a success or no, but you have to have faith.
It all started with small amounts, but we didn’t stopped there. We believed that this project will go a long way if we decided to work harder. Fortunately, we gathered good amount that helped us purchase everything we need in order to distribute goods.
We thank our family and friends who generously helped out. We are sure that every cent they gave went to the right people.
Lastly, I want to thank my best friends who spent a lot of time and effort for this project. Thank you for your empathy and compassion to those who are in need.
I am not sharing this to brag, but to encourage everyone to help in any way possible. No help is small if it came from a genuine heart.
During these trying times, don’t hesitate to help each other—no matter who they are or what they stand for.
We are together in this battle. We will win together and no one will be left behind.
