Muelle Loney in Iloilo River used to connect Iloilo City to the world with sugar and textile exports making the metropolis the country's capital of sweet and shining business success.
The spanish term for wharf, muelle was named after British Vice Consul Nicholas Loney.
Called Father of Philippine Sugar Industry, Loney was credited for the boom of economic activities along the riverbank.
Iloilo Port used to serve international shipping handling sugar and fertilizer shipments since its opening for global market long ago.
