Public and private sectors pool resources for Taal evacuees

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, Jan. 16 (PIA)-- The government and private sector funnel both monetary and non-monetary assistance to evacuees affected by the continuous volcanic activity of Taal Volcano.

One-stop-shop help desks with first aid, medical support, free calls and mobile phone charging and feeding stations have also been set up in some evacuation centers in Batangas through the partnership of the government and private sector.

Medical Assistance  and consultations Department of Health, Batangas Medical Center and Philippine Medical Association - Batangas Chapter personnel are also provided to evacuees at the Batangas Provincial Sports Complex.

Members of the Regional Nutrition Cluster (RNC) CALABARZON composed of Department of Health, National Nutrition Council, Philippine Information Agency and Kabisig ng Kalahi also conducted a rapid nutrition assessment using the NINA tool for evacuees in Batangas Sports Complex and Bauan Technical High School in Bauan, Batangas.


Medical assistance and services for evacuees are available through the joint initiative of the public and private sectors. (Bhaby De Castro- PIA-Batangas)
The municipalities of San Nicolas, Sta. Teresita, Bauan, Cuenca, Balete, Taal, Mataas na Kahoy and the City of Lipa also received P 5 million each from President Rodrigo Duterte which was turned over by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea Jr.
