My generation here in the Philippines is mostly exposed to Japanese culture thru anime and manga. I remember when I was young I would rush home because my favorite show is about to start. During those times I thought it is easy to go to Japan and I would bug my parents to take me there. I wanted to leave there, go to Akihabara and Tokyo. Going there wasn't east at all but I'm not loosing hope. Actually I am preparing my self for my future travel there. I wanted to speak and understand Nihongo. But Nihongo is not an easy language either, specially to Roman Alphabet using people like Filipinos. My journey started during COVID-19 quarantine. I run out of things to do and I recently started to rekindle my long lost love for Anime and Manga. First I printed the Hiragan and Katakana charts. I memorized them ad practice writing them every night for at least 30mins. Then I watched tutorials in Youtube. I write down all the words I hear and their meaning. As of today, I can slowly read Nihongo at I can understand few sentences when I hear them. It is still a long way to go but I can do it. I will do it. If you are interested in learning Nihongo, I will be happy to share my references to you. Maybe in another post. Ja! Matane!
