Last midnight, Manila Bulletin reported that President Duterte has now put Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal back to GCQ starting tomorrow, August 19. Apparently, the MECQ was just in response to the plea of medical front liners to be able to take a break from the rising number of Covid-19 cases. However, due to economic reasons, these places have been put back to GCQ.

Other towns, cities or provinces placed under GCQ are Nueva Ecija, Batangas, Quezon, Iloilo City, Cebu City, Lapu Lapu City, Mandaue City, Talisay City, Minglanilla in Cebu, and Consolacion in Cebu.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country has been placed under MGCQ, a more relaxed quarantine level. However, both places under GCQ and places under MGCQ will have to wait for further announcements of a new quarantine category come September 1.
