My body, My rules

Being born as female means you have to carry all of the comments and opinions from everyone around you - Opinions about your body, your skin, and everything else in between. Everyone has opinions about you that doesn't concern them and all I want to say is their opinions doesn't define you and it will never.

I often get side comments regarding my weight, I would usually get "I haven't seen you in a long time, you've gained" or "Looks like you're being left in the kitchen for too long" I don't understand why people need to comment on things that the person sees every single time their naked, there's a lot of things you can comment about a person besides her body - you can ask the person how is she doing, or how's their family doing or comment about how happy they look or how pretty they look - there are so many things to say about a person but dragging that person down by your insensitive comments isn't one of them. When people comment about my body on why I've gained I simply tell them, "Why not?" I don't owe people the explanation especially not about my body. You'll just see me happier because I finally don't feel guilty about stuffing food into my mouth.

I think we are all so insecure about our body especially while growing up, we tend to look up to the most beautiful women, models who have perfect bodies and it drives us to more insecurity and to question ourselves if Are we even beautiful? Are we even worthy? Our family members adds up to our own insecurities about pin pointing everything that is wrong with you, which HELLO FAMILY MEMBERS, YOU ARE BRINGING US DOWN sometimes you just want to get angry with your auntie or your cousin or worst, your own mother by always commenting on it, yes I do understand - they probably mean well and they're probably concern about your health but there's a fine line between constructive criticism and criticizing the person completely and I hope we all know the difference of it, because of it you hurt the person you were supposed to be concerned at.
