ML is Life

Amidst this pandemic, when I was on the verge of contemplating what life really is, one thing happened to cross my mind. While some folks believe that Mobile Legends causes nothing but addiction, hindering those who play the game to be productive; I believe that this game teaches us the greatest lessons of life.

For one, ML teaches us how to adjust and give way to others. If you were not in the queue anymore and about to choose a hero; there are times that you wish to play a certain role, like for example the Mark’s Man, but if there is already one player in your team that takes that role, you are obliged to take the one that is not yet taken for the sake of winning the game. This actually makes the player matured in decision making, which is vital for us to survive in the real world. Life is not as easy as you think it is, there are times that the world would meddle with your choices. Sometimes, what we get is the opposite of what we desire. Disappointing it may seem but it would make us flexible and better. The Force works in a strange way; sometimes, those who think we hate turn out to be the ones we love.

Second, ML teaches us that life is a team play. In order to win the game, you, along with your teammates, have to build a good strategy to take down the opponent team. This game entails everyone’s cooperation. You cannot take down the opponent team all by yourself no matter how good you are as a player. This game will make you realize the significance of your neighbours. After all, no one is living just for himself. We live in the same universe, so we are all connected.

Third, ML teaches us to accept each other. There are times that you would be playing with those who are not good enough (cancer). But instead of complaining, you have to accept their weaknesses and adjust for the possibility of achieving a miraculous triumph. In real life, there are times that achieving our goal could be a lot easier if only those people who live with us were as good as us. Sometimes, their weakness hinders us from achieving it easily. Saddening indeed it is but complaining won’t help. We have to live with this reality and make ourselves stronger for the goal we want to achieve.

Lastly, ML teaches us that we cannot control the world but the world can control us. No matter how winnable your team may seem in a certain game, if your team's internet connection meddles, you would be defeated right off the bat. This actually reflects what we are experiencing right now. This pandemic simply proves that Mother Earth is capable of controlling us no matter what our life status is. This reminds me of what Carl Sagan said: in the vastness of the universe, we are just a pale blue dot.

The said game may seem simple but it actually teaches us some great philosophies in life that will make us better individuals. You may not always win in the game but I hope you won’t take that to stop playing and believing in yourself.

Let me end this post with the words of one of my favourite Scientists, Stephen Hawking:
“Ever since the dawn of civilization, people have craved for an understanding of the underlying order of the world. There ought to be something very special about the boundary conditions of the universe. And what can be more special than that there is no boundary. And there should be no boundary to human endeavour. We are all different. However bad life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. WHILE THERE IS LIFE, THERE IS HOPE.”
