Jaro Cathedral in Iloilo City is also called the National Shrine of Our Lady of Candles.
Its patroness is perched on its balcony, the miraculous Blessed Mother carrying Child Jesus, is said to enlighten those who light candles to pray to pass the board exam. 
The sacred statue said to have grown in size through the years was crowned in 1981 by then Pope John Paul II who later became saint.
