According to Phil Star, Japan Airlines are removing the "Ladies and gentlemen" greetings. They currently embrace the gender-neutral greetings during in-flight and airport announcements. By October 1, using "Ladies and gentlemen" will be abolished and instead use words like "good morning" and "good evening". Same-sex marriage is not legal in Japan but the government has slowly expanded rights for the LGBT community.
