What is PCOS? PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. According to Mayo Clinic, PCOS is a hormonal disorder common among women. According to my research, PCOS may cause infertility if not addressed properly – That’s scary! As a woman, we all dream of having our own child and PCOS may hinder us from having one. I was diagnosed with PCOS way back in 2013. At first, I was not alarmed because I’m still young and kicking. I experienced irregular period, excessive hair growth, weight gain, stress, and anxiety – these are the symptoms of having PCOS. To make the long story short, I just realized that I have to work on it when my fiancé proposed to me. I also have bad eating habits and since I’m a teacher, I don’t have time to exercise. Thanks to my fiancé’, he insisted and accompanied me to my OB-GYN, I had my multiple ultrasound and check-ups and I bought medicines recommended by my doctor such as Folic Acid, Metformin, and Nature-C. In addition to PCOS, my laboratory result was not that good. My cholesterol, uric acid, and sugar were beyond the normal range. I told myself that I can’t let this habit to continue. I need to change it for my future husband and baby. June 2019, I decided not to eat rice at all! My OB also asked me to take Althea pills for my period. It was hard at first not to eat rice but my mind always tells me that it’s for my own good. I also make it a groove to do Zumba exercise very Sunday. I did it consistently for 6 months. My period became regular because I’m taking the pills. After 6 months, I decided to have my ultrasound again. When I got the result, I jumped with joy literally and I almost wanted to hug the stuff there because the result came out and I HAVE NORMAL OVARIES!!! I consulted my OB-GYN again and she said that I still have to be careful and conscious about my health. She told me to stop taking the pills and we will see if I will have a period the following months. My OB also told me to continue the Metformin, Folic Acid, and Nature-C. My fiancé’s mom also recommended Fern D and Fern Active. Now, I have a regular period and all I can say is THANK YOU, LORD!
