In the 21st century, our phones are connected to our lives. Admit it or not, we feel lonely in school whenever we forgot our phones in our homes because most of our classmates are also fully paying attention to their cellphones, neglecting the people around them. According to the article, “I share therefore I am” means that you are inventing yourself to make you that person when in fact it is not your true self. You hide behind a mask. A mask that makes you feel you’re connected to the world and you have a lot of “friends” but in real life you are lonely. This quote from Sherry Turkle on her TED Talk titled “Connected, but alone” makes me realize that in this modern world, we are not living the life we should live. We are isolated in the internet; we are connected to the world but disconnected in real-life conversations. We can’t deny the fact that technology helps us to have a companion, to make our life easier such as sending files to different locations in the world in just a minute. Technology is useful to us modern people but we need to control our time and our attention on internet connectivity. We have real companions on the real world that understands our feeling, who can give us genuine advices since all of us have feelings and experiences that an Artificial Intelligence don’t have. We should put our gadgets aside for us to have real conversations with the people around us. There’s nothing happier than a lively world.
