Hospital Pharmacist is my first job. What makes it more challenging is that it happened to be in a rural community. I am a newly board passer at that time when I started to work. When you wished to be in five-star hospital in which you have a quick access to medicine, updated medicine information, and a competitive colleagues, but it happened to be working in an infirmary level hospital. In which, I worked with a Senior Pharmacist. The hospital is open for 24 hours thus we need to provide a 24 hours pharmacy-related services. I am working for 12 hours a day, seven days a week to provide patient services. It made me a night owl person who tends to stay up at night to provide my duties as a hospital pharmacist, and sleep during daytime. My duties as a hospital pharmacist is to prepare medications of the patients by reviewing and interpreting physicians orders, detecting medication errors and dispensing medications with patient counselling, in which you explain and educate them about their medications, and so on. I forgot to enjoy my life because I am too dedicated to my first job. Working for 12 hours a day made me absent during family reunions, friends night-outs and even family dinner. Yes, it made me isolate in what happy life would be. But when your patient is giving so much respect and seeing them happy for your service, and you really let them understand their medication makes my heart overwhelmed and made me prove that I chose my first job right. :-)
