Filipino singer-songwriter Daryl Ong has finally received his YouTube Gold Play Button after reaching one million subscribers on YouTube.

The 33-year-old singer who rose to fame after joining The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 started his YouTube channel Daryl Ong Official in 2013 just to share his cover songs.

In recent years, Ong started upgrading his content by sharing not just cover songs but also his original compositions, music videos, and collaborations with other singers.

Daryl’s most viewed video is his collaboration with other Original Pilipino Music (OPM) singers Michael Pangilinan, Bugoy Drilon and Katrina Velarde to sing “One Sweet Day” of Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men with more than 38 million views.

In May this year, Daryl collaborated with artist Teddy Katigbak and Dale Ferrer to release a cover song of Mariah Carey’s “Hero”, a song dedicated to COVID-19 frontliners.

On July 12, Daryl announced on his social media that he finally amassed one million subscribers to be qualified for a Gold Play Button plaque.

“We finally hit the 1M Subs!” the singer wrote on his Instagram post. “Couldn’t have done it without you, my loyal and faithful subscribers on @youtube ! THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! You keep my Passion Alive and Blazing! Cheers!”

Two days after, on July 14, the OPM artist shared the good news that he finally received his YouTube Gold Play Button award.

“It has finally arrived!” Daryl said on his Instagram post that came with his photo holding the fruit of his labor.

“Dati iniisip-isip ko lang, ngayon hawak ko na, maraming salamat sa mahigit isang milyong subscribers, your love and support motivate and inspire me to keep on pushin’ on!! Cheers!!! Can’t wait to unbox this on my @youtube live & @kumuph WITH ALL OF YOU!! Stay tuned!!” he added.

With his YouTube Gold Play Button, Daryl Ong joins the list of Filipino celebrities who have received the prestigious YouTube Creator Award.
