When you're on Boracay, you shouldn't miss going to Diniwid Beach. This beach is one of the cleanest beach fronts on the island of Boracay. This is because we organize a weekly beach clean up with the kids diligently for 18 years now. It all started when I was a kid and became part of this organization (which is called Diniwid Kids) founded by Ms. Elena Brugger, then after I graduated, I started leading the organization and recruiting new kids to join me with the beach clean up every Sunday. We start by picking up trash by the seashore then we play educational games and other activities. We also hold our annual Christmas Party, book club and other things to give opportunities for skill training and knowledge learning. In fact, we were once featured in a local newspaper. The kids seem to love this weekly event and they are always looking forward to it and that makes me extremely happy. What makes Diniwid Beach special? Firstly, the breathtaking sunset. Secondly, the rock formation and an alley that connects it to the white beach and ofcourse the fact that it's clean and peaceful. Thanks to the kids who are happily participating in the beach clean up event. We are always moved when there are foreigners and locals alike who recognize our efforts and join us in picking up trash when we're doing so. Little things really make a difference. We have to postpone the event for the safety of the children but after this pandemic and when the situation is better, we're going to get back at it.
