Beautiful Tragic Love

“If it is true that there are as many minds as there are heads, then there are as many kinds of love as there are hearts.”

This beautiful quote about love comes from the pages of Leo Tolstoy’s literary masterpiece, Anna Karenina. The central heroine of his 1878 novel is a young, married, Russian noblewoman who leads a privileged life in a suffocating patriarchal society. Anna takes a bold step out of the ordinary, all for love’s sake, and commits adultery with a cavalry officer Vronsky. Although disgraced in the eyes of Tsarist Russia’s society, still she decides to continue the doomed affair that leads her to ruin.
