Apple releases first iOS 14, iPadOS 14, macOS Big Sur public beta builds

Apple has been beta testing its newest operating system versions for about a month but the program has been limited to people with developer accounts. But now, Apple has released first public betas for iOS 14, iPadOS 14, macOS Big Sur, watchOS 7, and tvOS 14 which means anyone with an eligible device can try out the new software experience.

The public betas are available through the official Apple beta program website. A user will need to visit the website, look for his device, and install the relevant public beta profile. All of this is an easy process but the first most important step is to take a backup of your device. This is a step that we would suggest you do not skip in any condition, especially if you are planning to install the beta on your primary machine.

If you are wondering why taking a backup is so crucial, the answer is because it is only the way you have a chance of getting all your data back if something goes wrong with the beta installation. It is true that it has been a few weeks since Apple started testing the new OSes but they are still in beta stage. It means there is always a chance of running into issues that can affect the device's performance severely.

As for what to expect from the public betas, you will get to explore and try out all the new things and features that Apple announced at this year's WWDC keynote. There have not been any major changes in the two developer betas that have been released so far.
