A Cup of Positivity While Waiting

AN OPEN LETTER FOR THOSE WHO'RE GETTING TIRED OF WAITING FOR SOMEONE OR SOMETHING...

Getting tired of waiting for something that seems almost impossible to come? Does it feel like what you're waiting for will take forever before it arrive? Maybe you had felt like that at least once.

There was this moment that I have experienced days ago. It was a cloudy afternoon. We have to go somewhere kaso mukhang uulan kaya naghintay kaming magkapatid sa waiting shed. We had waited for tricycles to pass by but since this pandemic also affected public transportations, iilan lang ang nagpapasada, or so I think.

"May dadaan kayang tricycle?" I asked my little sister, impatiently turning my head left and right anticipating for a tricycle to pass by.
"Meron yan. Nag-pray na ko kay Jesus. May dadaang tricycle." she said, confidently.

We had waited for, like, three to five minutes and I'm getting impatient.

"Ayoko na, maglakad na tayo, Kia. Tara na! Anong oras pa dadaan ang tricycle?"
"May dadaang tricycle. Maghintay ka lang."

She's just there, casually sitting, calmly waiting. Umuna na kong maglakad. Sumunod din naman s'ya. Mga apat na metro at ilang hakbang na ang nalalakad namin nang may dumaang tricycle at tumigil sa tapat namin.

Pagkasakay na pagkasakay namin, my sister said, "Kita mo na? Sabi ko sa'yo may dadaan eh. Ayaw mo lang maniwala. Umalis ka na agad."

And I was silenced. Iba yung tama ng "Ayaw mo lang maniwala. Umalis ka na agad." It was just a small moment but it reminded me of two things.

First, the true value of patience. Some might say, 'Natural na may dadaan naman talagang tricycle earlier or later than expected.' And it just proves my point even more. May dadaan naman earlier or later, but it's up to us to wait or not. Each of us have our own metaphorical life waiting stations. It can be a workplace, a dating site, a social media platform, a cricle of friend, or even a hobby. Whatever kind of waiting station it is, we have something that we're waiting for--- job promotion, love life, lifelong friends, growth, and even success in things that we're passionate about. Kaso minsan, it feels too long bago mangyari. Nakakapagod, nakakainip maghintay. But whenever we feel tired of waiting, please be reminded that...

Second, THERE ARE MISSED OPPORTUNITIES DUE TO IMPATIENCE. Minsan, parating na pala yung hinihintay natin but we leave our waiting stations because we got too tired of waiting. Sayang, hindi ba? Yung tipong, mapropromote ka na pala, kaso umalis ka pa; sasagutin ka naman pala, tumigil ka nga lang; may success naman palang naghihintay sa passion mo, kaso iniwan mo ito.

Whenever we feel tired of waiting, let's have this positivity na WHAT WE ARE WAITING FOR WILL COME, EARLIER OR LATER THAN EXPECTED. No matter how soon or late, what's important is, it will come.

And once it came, it will be rewarding. Just do the 3Be's of waiting.

BE STILL. BE PATIENT. BELIEVE.
(And you might as well entertain yourself with the scenery around you, baka may matutunan din kayo while waiting.)

Keep this optimism, because you never know kung kelan ka sasampalin ng "Ayaw mo lang maniwala. Umalis ka na agad."
