Looking for a job is relatively easy. There are plenty of job opportunities available at every industry. You can even apply online without leaving the comforts of your home. Applications are submitted online and interviews are done virtually. I repeat, looking for a job is easy.. but landing that job is never a piece of cake. Exams, interviews.. those are all the things you have to course through. Exams are doable considering that mostly they contain common sense questions, personality tests and evaluation, and tests that gauge your knowledge about the job you are applying for and/or your profession. Interviews on the other hand are tricky and that you have to be able to deliver your best answers as clearly as possible. I am not here to tell you the questions and the answers for interviews but rather give you some reminders on what to do for the interview. Here are the things you must do during the interview. 1. Be presentable. First and foremost, making a good impression to your employer is a good start. Not only do you need "substance" but you also need to have "form". So put on your best dress and be confident. 2. Think and speak clearly. It is not enough that you have the best answers in mind but you must also be able to deliver your answers effectively. As much as possible, avoid long pauses. Answer with confidence. Breathe, relax, and be true to your answers. 3. Listen. Be attentive. Aside from just answering questions, you must also listen carefully to the interviewer and see to it that you can understand what was being talked about. It is important that you are aware of what is going on and not to zone out of the conversation. 4. Put your best foot forward. Always remember that you only have one shot at this interview and that you have to do your best to be considered for the job. As I said, landing a job is hard because it is a battle between you and all the other applicants. Many are your competition in landing the job so you have to give your best shot. 5. Be yourself. Most importantly, always be yourself. Whether or not you land the job, what matters is that you are yourself. Because if not, and you got the job, it's very hard to live in pretentions. What is important is that your values align with the company, because that will be your reason to stay (aside from the salary). The right job will come to you. Don't forget to be who you are. There are still lots of things to note on landing a job and nailing the interview but I believe these are the things that you have to put in consideration the most. So good luck in your job hunting!
